Adult ADHD assessment, wherever you are

Currently booking 2–3 weeks ahead. Most people we speak to have been told to expect a year somewhere else.

Most adults who come to us have been managing for a long time. Working twice as hard to keep up. Masking well, and exhausted by it. Told at various points that they're anxious, or sensitive, or disorganised — and never quite recognising themselves in any of it.

Often the question surfaces after someone else in the family gets answers.

You don't need a referral, a crisis, or a tidy list of symptoms to start. You just need to be curious.

This can be done by telehealth

The adult ADHD pathway works over video. The clinical and developmental interview, the structured diagnostic session, the conversation with your informant — none of it requires you to be in a room in Perth. Questionnaires are already sent electronically.

That means we can assess you wherever you are in Australia, and you're not waiting on a local list.

What's involved

1. Clinical and developmental interview — about 60 minutes.
Your history: education, work, relationships, health, family. What's prompted this now, and what you're hoping to understand. We review your completed questionnaires together.

2. Assessment session — 90 to 120 minutes.
A structured diagnostic interview alongside direct observation: attention, concentration, activity level and impulsivity — how they show up now, how they showed up in childhood, which parts of daily life they affect most, and how mood, anxiety or sensory needs interact with them.

3. Feedback session — about 60 minutes.
We go through the report together, section by section. What was found, what it means in plain terms, whether diagnostic criteria are met, and what would practically help — at work, in study, in relationships. You're welcome to bring a support person. This session is yours.

Why we ask for an informant

This one's essential, and it surprises people.

ADHD is diagnosed on evidence of a lifelong pattern, not just how things are now — and adults are often extremely practised at masking. A single perspective is rarely enough. We need someone who has known you a long time: a parent, partner, sibling or long-standing close friend. They complete a questionnaire and, where useful, have a brief conversation with Hebba.

Multi-informant data is what makes an adult assessment defensible. If a parent isn't available, choose whoever has known you longest. Old school reports help too, if you still have them.

Medicare and timeframes

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, a Medicare rebate can be claimed for the two 60-minute appointments. The 90–120 minute assessment session doesn't attract a rebate. Rebate amounts and eligibility are set by Medicare, so please confirm your entitlement directly.

How long it takes: 2–3 weeks to your first appointment, then 4–6 weeks to your feedback session.

Fees are set at or below the rate recommended by the Australian Psychological Society, and are discussed openly with you before you book — there's no obligation at that point.

One clinician, start to finish

Your assessment is conducted from beginning to end by Hebba Morcos, Registered Psychologist (AHPRA PSY0001820339). The same clinician runs the interviews, scores and interprets the measures, writes the report and delivers the feedback. Nothing is handed off.
